How are the horrors of War viewed through the eyes of it's most innocent and vulnerable victim? In the early nineties civil unrest in the West African country of Liberia ripped apart the fabric of this utopia sounded on American democracy. For seven-year-old Derek Johns, civil war was an alternate reality, where child soldiers ruled with the threat of their rifles, and their blood stained machetes. Where everyone starved of hunger except for the rats and vole feasting on the dead while others sought salvation in political asylums, Derek and his family sought salvation in each other!
